I've had a busy month, with another busy month coming up. Why you ask? Well, my publishing company has had an insane amount of releases lined up. In the last two weeks, we launched Witches: Tea Party and Five High School Dialogues. Next month, we launch Wish for Survival, Perfect Chaos, Embracing Entropy, and Dead Batteries Tell No Tales: A Prequel to Five High School Dialogues. Don't ask me why I do it to myself, I guess I like to stay busy... and truth be told, I love seeing my authors get so excited over the constant influx of events.
That's not my rant...
I get very few moments online that aren't absorbed by promoting, responding to business emails, or organizing blog tours. Lately, however, my precious personal time online has been tainted by depressing posts and racists rants.
I'm so sick of this race war. You can say we're not in one, but one look at Facebook's news feed, trending topics, or the commentary on talk-shows and news programs will tell you otherwise. Let's get real, people. It's disgusting. Race shouldn't be an issue anymore. I mean, we've been here - done that, right? Why is this a subject again?
Because of our media. Because of the posts we willingly share. Every time someone clicks share on a Ferguson meme, a Donald Trump quote, or a screenshot of a Kanye West Tweet, it adds to the detrimental information floating around on the internet. It's pathetic. I don't want to see it and I'm slightly disturbed seeing that they're becoming trending topics. Aren't there enough issues? Don't we have enough problems - humanity, as a whole? Why is someone's skin color or religion an issue?
Let's face it, my skin may be white. His skin may be black. Her skin over there may be brown, or hell - orange... I don't care. If you cut our fingers, if you tap our veins, it will still come out red. Why? Because we're human. A German Shepard is a dog, just the same as a poodle. They both go to the same vet, to the same dog show, because they're the same. We're the same, we're all human.
Everyone deserves to be loved, to be respected. I don't need a religion or a law passed to tell me that. I know it because I'm human - just as you and everyone else reading this is. Part of being human means accepting, loving, and caring for one another.
Let everyone be. Everyone has their own inner struggles, their own complications. What color their skin is shouldn't be one of them. The only concern anyone should have is whether or not they're a good person.
You shouldn't hate anyone just for being the way they were born. You shouldn't hate anyone you don't truly know. Well, except for Martin Shkreli. That guy is a douche - the scourge of humanity. Him, you can hate. He deserves it.
Give everyone else a break. We're all only human, after all.
Now, can we perk up these Facebook feeds a bit and stop hatin' on each other?
